I would imagine, as we saw with 20-nanometer, that Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL  ) will hog the initial supply of 14/16-nanometer throughout the industry for its latest iPhone and iPad chips. After that, it'd make sense for Qualcomm to work out the kinks with its smaller die size cellular baseband and then once the yield learning has taken place, bring to bear a much larger die size integrated applications processor on whatever FinFET processes it is using.

Disney could send personalized smartphone alerts of short lines or flash-sale opportunities.

Where can Disney go from there? It was originally suggested that the MagicBand could be used to pull up guest info that the family entertainment giant could use to enhance the experience. Characters would be able to identify guests by name, if the guests opted in, of course. Armed with info about their favorite rides, restaurants and even characters, Disney could send personalized smartphone alerts of short lines or flash-sale opportunities when guests are in the park. There's a fine line between enhancing a park outing and being creepy, but arming guests with the power to decide how immersive they want their experiences to be will go a long way toward silencing any privacy concerns. It also wouldn't be a surprise if MagicBand options themselves grow in the future. There are already limited-edition character wristbands, but what about designer models? What about Disney watches with RFID chips? What about fitness trackers, feeding off my earlier suggestion of a Run Disney MagicBand that takes advantage of its growing competitive running slate to roll out a fitness-tracking MagicBand? Getting folks to start wearing these bracelets outside of the theme park could also open up possibilities for not just Disney Store interactions but possibly even a digital wallet along the lines of Apple (AAPL) Pay or an unlocking mechanism for digital goodies at movie theaters and beyond. Disney really is just scratching the surface here. One can only imagine what will be possible in another year or two. More from Rick Aristotle Munarriz

Last week, the company introduced Echo, a sor! t of pers! onal assistant meant to function as a life organizer. Amazon explained how the device will work on a web page introducing it:

Amazon Echo is designed around your voice. It's always on -- just ask for information, music, news, weather, and more. Echo begins working as soon as it hears you say the wake word, "Alexa." It's also an expertly tuned speaker that can fill any room with immersive sound. Basically, it's a cool speaker with a built-in voice assistant that works like a well-focused version of Apple's  (NASDAQ: AAPL  ) Siri or Microsoft's  (NASDAQ: MSFT  ) Cortana. Instead of being an anything for anytime assistant like the phone offerings, Echo is built around being useful in a home, It does everything from acting as an alarm clock to helping build a grocery list, and delivering weather forecasts. The device is not total home control, and it's not a robot, but if it delivers what it promises, it's a step in that direction.

Amazon's Echo is part speaker, part voice assistant. Source: Amazon.

Top 5 Consumer Service Companies To Invest In Right Now

Although Canada economic growth is forecast to outpace the US this year, just as it did last year, economistsexpectations have recently diminished. Still, the latest numbers from Canada wholesale sector showed surprising strength in May, which could mean second-quarter growth reaccelerated after a disappointing April (the national accounts for May will be released at the end of this month).

According to Statistics Canada (StatCan) wholesale trade numbers blew past projections in May, rising 2.2 percent, to CAD52.6 billion, which was an all-time high for the sector.

By contrast, economists had forecast an increase of just 0.6 percent. The prior month result was also revised higher by two-tenths of a percentage point, for growth of 1.4 percent.

The auto sector accounted for most of the gain, with sales of motor vehicles up 9.8 percent month over month, to CAD6.9 billion, or 13.2 percent of total wholesale trade. Motor vehicle sales have risen 9.0 percent year over year.

Top 5 Gas Companies To Watch For 2015: Clean Energy Fuels Corp.(CLNE)

Clean Energy Fuels Corp., together with its subsidiaries, provides natural gas as an alternative fuel for vehicle fleets in the United States and Canada. The company designs, builds, operates, and maintains fueling stations, as well as supplies compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuel for medium and heavy-duty vehicles. Its CNG is used in automobiles, light to medium-duty vehicles, refuse trucks, and transit buses as an alternative to gasoline and diesel. The company also sells non-lubricated natural gas compressors and related equipment used in CNG and LNG stations; and produces renewable natural gas, which is used as vehicle fuel or sold for power generation. In addition, it offers vehicle finance services for the purchase of natural gas vehicles, as well as for the conversion of gasoline or diesel powered vehicles to operate on natural gas. Further, the company provides natural gas conversions, alternative fuel systems, application engineering, service and warranty support, and research and development services for natural gas vehicles. As of December 31, 2011, it served approximately 530 fleet customers with approximately 25,000 natural gas vehicles; and owned, operated, or supplied 273 natural gas fueling stations in 23 states within the United States, and British Columbia and Ontario within Canada, as well as in Peru. Clean Energy Fuels Corp. was incorporated in 2001 and is headquartered in Seal Beach, California.

Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By Arjun Sreekumar]

One stock to play the shift to NGVs
One company investing heavily in natural gas fueling stations in Texas, as well as across the country, is Clean Energy Fuels (NASDAQ: CLNE  ) . The California-based company is the largest provider of natural gas fuel for transportation in North America and already fuels tens of thousands of vehicles every day at various locations across the United States and Canada.

  • [By Tyler Crowe]

Let's take, for example, natural gas vehicles. Clean Energy Fuels (NASDAQ: CLNE  ) , the nation's largest fueling station network, has about 360 stations. The problem, though, is that just isn't enough to make it convenient enough for every day drivers to make the switch. According to the Petroleum Marketers Association of America, the point at which natural gas vehicles can be adopted on a large scale is about 53,000 fueling stations, so we are about 2.2% to the point where you or I could seriously consider a natural gas vehicle without the inconvenience of driving around for half the day to find a fueling station.

  • [By Garrett Cook]

Energy shares rose by 1.89 percent in today’s trading. Top gainers in the sector included Harvest Natural Resources (NYSE: HNR), up 22.3 percent, and Clean Energy Fuels (NASDAQ: CLNE), up 12.4 percent.

  • [By Tim Melvin]

One of the really interesting stocks on the list is Clean Energy Fuels Corporation (CLNE). The company operates fueling stations that allow vehicle fleets to use natural gas to run their vehicles. CLNE also sells compressed natural gas for light-, medium- and heavy-duty vehicles; and liquefied natural gas for medium- and heavy-duty vehicles. CLNE has a pretty good customer base, with 779 fleet customers operating approximately 35,240 natural gas vehicles.

Top 5 Consumer Service Companies To Invest In Right Now: SourcingLink.net Inc (SNET)

SourcingLink.net, Inc., incorporated in 1994, was involved in developing and deploying merchandise-sourcing solutions for the retail industry prior to its operating assets sale in March 2004. The Company's Internet-based, hosted solutions for the pre-order phase of business-to-business merchandise procurement enabled retailers to organize, automate and reduce the cost of their merchandise-sourcing activities by locating and connecting directly with their retail merchandise suppliers around the globe. Its solution, branded MySourcingCenter, provided an online location for search, display and comparison functions, and linked and managed the data and communications between retailers and merchandise suppliers in industry-specific private environments, organizing and automating sourcing or pre-order merchandise procurement activities over the Internet. The majority of the Company's revenue through the fiscal years ended March 31, 2001 (fiscal 2001) to 2003 (fiscal 2003) was generated from a contract entered into, in March 2000, with Carrefour S.A. After completion of the Carrefour agreement, SourcingLink.net, Inc. was unable to procure additional contracts to replace the revenue generated by the Carrefour agreement.

SourcingLink.net sold its operating assets and intellectual property, and its two customer contracts in two separate transactions, in March 2004, (collectively, the operating assets sale), and ceased its operating business at that time. Its fixed assets, software, intellectual property and customer contracts related to Internet-based merchandise sourcing solution were sold to a third party in Europe. The Company's list of potential customers and certain Lotus Notes templates related to its professional services business were sold to a separate foreign company.

Prior to the operating assets sale in March 2004, the Company also performed professional services that accounted for the majority of its revenue since fiscal 2001. Its professional services enabled customers to ! implement Internet-based electronic negotiations (eSourcing) solutions. SourcingLink.net's service offering was buyer auction programs, which encompassed assessment, savings delivery and training aimed at optimizing auction processes within the buying organization.

MySourcingCenter is an online sourcing solution for finding, displaying, comparing and negotiating the purchase of products. The Company provided customers with a turnkey solution, including project management for buyer rollout and both online and global helpdesk support for buyers and suppliers. Reporting and forms were standardized for suppliers and standard forms were also available for retailers. In addition, SourcingLink.net mapped standard supplier data to any forms specification the retailer may have had, providing a customized display to meet retailer requirements. All of the underlying software resided outside of customer firewalls in a third party co-location facility.

The Company's only customer for MySourcingCenter was the international purchasing department of France-based Leroy Merlin. It also signed a contract with a United States-based customer, for which initial planning had occurred prior to the operating assets sale in March 2004.

SourcingLink.net provided professional services in the area of Internet-based, pre-order merchandise procurement. It assisted retailers in the conduct of online real-time negotiation events and trained buying organizations to become autonomous in conducting such events. Related to the Company's Internet solution, it provided project management for retailer implementations of MySourcingCenter. SourcingLink.net provided services to Carrefour, from April 2000, through mid-fiscal 2004, under a three-year contract. This contract provided the majority of the Company's revenues during the prior three fiscal years. It also provided services to the WorldWide Retail Exchange and certain of its members. One such contract provided about one-third of its services revenue ! during fi! scal year 2004. The Company's professional services customers included Carrefour, under the Carrefour contract, and members of several industry exchanges, including the WorldWide Retail Exchange, a retail industry exchange with 60 members around the globe, and CPGmarkets, an exchange for manufacturers of consumer packaged goods, whose members are in Europe.

Of course, there is nothing wrong with properly disclosed promotions or investor relations activities. But just how hot are these two small cap stocks? Top 10 Consumer Service Companies To Buy For 2014

Unemployment rates fell in 28 states in October while nonfarm payroll employment increased in 34 states, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Friday.

Illustrating the generally better trend, the states that have long held the highest and lowest jobless rates in the country each saw improvement last month.

Nevada, which has led the nation in unemployment nearly every month since early 2010, had a rate of 9.3%. That's a tenth of a percentage point below September's and a full percentage point lower than October 2012.

The Silver State is recovering slowly from the housing bust and recession. Construction jobs are still more than 60% off their pre-recession highs and even the much-stronger leisure and hospitality sector remains 5.5% below its 2007 jobs peak.

North Dakota, its fortunes lifted by an energy boom, has enjoyed the nation's lowest unemployment rate since late 2008 and kept that distinction in October. At 2.7%, its jobless rate was a tenth of a point lower than September's and half a point lower than a year earlier.

    Growth
Sustainability isn't enough for Buffett and Berkshire. Buffett also likes to see the companies he invests in constantly innovating and adapting to changing times. Because Buffett prefers to invest in companies that are going to "move the needle," as my colleague Brian Orelli put it, I've excluded many of the faster-growing but smaller device makers. The result is that only one company truly meets what I'd refer to as the high-growth and Buffett-investable threshold: Intuitive Surgical (NASDAQ: ISRG  ) .

  • [By James Brumley]

How so? In November, Smith & Nephew unveiled a biocomposite material for use in arthroscopic surgeries — the Healicoil suture anchor — and just last week the company announced encouraging results from a third-party study of its negative-pressure wound therapy system used on closed surgical incisions. It sounds minor, but that technology could open a big door for Smith & Nephew as well as SNN stock owners.

    Medical Devices: Intuitive Surgical (ISRG)

Intuitive Surgical (ISRG) shares took a big hit late last week following its fourth-quarter numbers, but bear in mind that ISRG stock had been through an overheated run-up in the days before that. Even with Friday’s 6% selloff, Intuitive Surgical shares are up 7% year-to-date — a paradigm shift compared to 2013′s 21% slide.

VOC Energy Trust (VOC): Formed by a private energy firm, VOC owns both oil and gas wells in has wells in Kansas and Texas. The royalty trust owns an 80% net royalty on the wells on its properties. That makes a prime play on rising energy prices- no matter which fuel is doing well. VOC’s royalties will expire at the end of 2031 and yield no terminal value. Meaning shares will go to zero. Yet, VOC features a trailing yield of about14% based on the last four payments.

The Pharmaceuticals Index represents the pharmaceuticals sub-industry portion of the S&P TMI. The S&P TMI tracks all the United States common stocks listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), American Stock Exchange (AMEX), National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotation (NASDAQ) National Market and NASDAQ Small Cap exchanges.

Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By Selena Maranjian]

Exchange-traded funds offer a convenient way to invest in sectors or niches that interest you. If you'd like to add some pharmaceutical stocks to your portfolio, the SPDR S&P Pharmaceuticals ETF (NYSEMKT: XPH  ) could save you a lot of trouble. Instead of trying to figure out which companies will perform best, you can use this ETF to invest in lots of them simultaneously.

    The basics
ETFs often sport lower expense ratios than their mutual fund cousins. The SPDR ETF's expense ratio -- its annual fee -- is a relatively low 0.35%.

This ETF has trounced the world markets over the past three and five years. As with most investments, of course, we can't expect outstanding performances in every quarter or year. Investors with conviction need to wait for their holdings to deliver.

5 Best Financial Stocks To Buy Right Now

Are there too many exchange-traded funds on the market? When asked, the majority of investors are saying no.

In fact, two-thirds of the investors say there is room for more ETFs, according to the 2014 ETF Investor Study, released Thursday morning by Charles Schwab.

Michael Iachini, managing director of ETF & mutual fund research for Schwab and a certified financial planner, said this is especially interesting considering the perceived proliferation of ETFs on the market today.

“Investors are saying that markets are changing, environments are changing, and they need ETFs to keep up with that,” Iachini said. “That was the number one cited reason for why they’re comfortable with there being more ETFs out there.”

More ETFs also means more competition and lower prices, which is good for the fee-conscious investor.

Those in the survey that didn't want any more ETFs noted that there are too many choices and products out there right now.

The financial crisis bought an end to the takeover activity, but as the industry has recovered and valuations have stabilized we should once again see the former thrifts become too tempting for growth-starved larger banks to ignore. It is a worthwhile exercise to look at some older thrift conversions that may be beyond their “sell by” dates.

Top 5 Internet Companies For 2014

Have you heard the one about the Internet fund that afraid of dot-coms?

It sounds like a bad money manager joke, but that actually the best way to describe the Kinetics Internet Fund. ruthfully, if we changed the name, we probably get more money, says cofounder and portfolio manager Peter Doyle, jacket slung over a chair in a conference room at his midtown Manhattan office.

Doyle quip has two meanings: His Internet Fund was once the darling of Wall Streetne of the top-performing mutual funds of 1998 and 1999. But it crashed and burned a lot of investors, falling from $1.4 billion in assets in early 2000 to as low as $188 million by 2002.

But Doyle is not just referring to his fund lingering tech-bubble tainte also speaking about his alternative approach.

Despite its seemingly self-evident name and legacy as the first ever Internet-focused mutual fund, there aren many websites left in Doyle 56-company portfolio today. Instead Doyle is proving that in the current bubbly environment for stocks of social networks and mobile apps, the best way to make money from the Net is old-fashioned: value stocks with long product life cycles, deep content libraries, ample cash flownd ideally a billionaire behind the wheel.

www.ebay.com There were plenty of winners and losers in the business world this week, with the leading online auction site suffering a massive data breach and a streaming video service expanding overseas. Here's a rundown of the smartest moves and biggest blunders. eBay (EBAY) -- Loser A massive data breach at eBay was reported this week. Hackers cracked into eBay's database, gaining access to the names, email addresses, phone numbers, addresses and birthdays of its 233 million registered users. Passwords and payment information were encrypted, and are in all likelihood safe, but eBay is telling folks as they log into the site to change their passwords as a precautionary measure. Identity theft at websites and retailers is a major problem, but why are companies so slow to get the news out? The hack at eBay took place nearly three months ago, and eBay found out about it two weeks ago. Why did it wait until Wednesday to announce the breach? It also didn't mail its users, choosing instead to let them know about it when they logged into the site. Such situations are unfortunate, and unfortunately becoming more common, but companies need to own up to the breaches sooner and communicate with their customers more effectively when they happen. Netflix (NFLX) -- Winner The leading premium video streaming service is about to collect some more passport stamps. Netflix announced on Wednesday that it will be expanding into Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Belgium and Luxembourg later this year. The moves were widely expected. Variety spilled the beans on Netflix being in talks to enter France and Germany several weeks ago. After offering its digital platform in the United Kingdom and Scandinavia, the central Europe is a logical next step. Sears Holdings (SHLD) -- Loser Several out-of-favor retailers bounced back a bit this earnings season, but Sears wasn't one of them. The parent company of Kmart and its namesake department store saw sales fall 7 percent in it

AP/Jim Mone Is Bitcoin a slam-dunk as the currency of the future? The Sacramento Kings seem to think so. The NBA team recently became the first pro sports franchise to accept Bitcoin as a form of payment. Basketball fans will be able not only to purchase tickets and merchandise online with the digital cryptocurrency, but also to use it to buy souvenirs at the arena come game time. The team is the latest in a growing number of commercial entities finding a slot in their virtual cash registers for Bitcoin. Little by little, momentum is building for a widespread acceptance of the upstart currency. Overstocking The Kings' drive towards the Bitcoin basket comes a week after the big online retailer Overstock.com (OSTK) announced it would start accepting payments in the currency. The move was an instant hit -- the first day the company had the nifty Bitcoin button as an option in its shopping cart, its customers used it to make more than 800 transactions for total sales of around $130,000. Overstock.com was by no means the first online marketplace to accept the currency. Numerous web retailers have been doing so for some time. It's a natural fit, %VIRTUAL-article-sponsoredlinks in a way, since Bitcoin exists solely in the digital realm. Customers booking flights on discount travel operator CheapAir.com, for example, can use Bitcoin to buy their tickets, as can love seekers on dating site OkCupid, owned by IAC/InteractiveCorp (IACI). These digital players are going to have plenty of company. Earlier this month, online games purveyor Zynga (ZNGA) started to dip its toes in the water, announcing that it was testing Bitcoin payments for some of its titles in conjunction with specialist transaction facilitator BitPay. But if Overstock.com didn't get there first, it's still the largest and most prominent e-retailer to take the Bitcoin plunge thus far. This is a big win for the currency and its advocates, and Overstock.com will surely be followed by more well-known comp

Alamy HOUSTON -- Halliburton says it lost $18 million in the first quarter, pulled down by $637 million in charges related to its role in the 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill. But it made money if unusual items are excluded, beating Wall Street expectations. The oil services company's loss amounted to 2 cents a share. That compares with net income of $627 million, or 68 cents a share, a year earlier. Halliburton Co. (HAL), which is in talks to settle claims against it related to the oil spill, said that excluding the charges it posted adjusted earnings of 67 cents a share. That beat the 57 cents that analysts expected. The Houston company, which provides a variety of services for the petroleum industry, is benefiting from a boom in U.S. oil production, which is at the highest level in more than two decades. At the same time, Halliburton's natural gas business has slowed as drillers slowed production due to falling prices for the fuel. Revenue rose slightly to $6.97 billion from $6.87 billion. Analysts expected $6.88 billion. Halliburton shares jumped $1.44, or 3.9 percent, to $38.65 in premarket trading an hour before the market opening. Halliburton is the biggest provider of oil field services in North America, including hydraulic fracturing, a technology that has helped unlock large supplies of oil and natural gas from shale rock formations in the U.S. North American revenue fell 11 percent to $3.71 billion, while operating income tumbled 43 percent to $605 million. Dave Lesar, the company's chairman, president and CEO, said a drop in Halliburton's rig count and pricing pressures in North America were more than offset by the company's growing international business. International revenue increased 21 percent from a year ago. For the full year, Halliburton still expects total international revenue growth in the "low teens," he said. Rival Schlumberger Ltd. (SLB), which has a larger international business, said Friday that its revenue climbed in region

    Monday's Volume: 11.92 million

    Three-Month Average Volume: 3.56 million

    Volume % Change: 350%

From a technical perspective, ITMN gapped sharply higher here right above its 50-day moving average of $32.38 with heavy upside volume. This monster spike higher on Monday pushed shares of ITMN into breakout and 52-week-high territory, since the stock took out some near-term overhead resistance levels at $36.71 to its former 52-week high of $38.73. Market players should now look for a continuation move to the upside in the short-term if ITMN manages to clear Monday's intraday high of $39.90 with strong volume.

Traders should now look for long-biased trades in ITMN as long as it's trending above $37 or above Monday's low of $35.85 and then once it sustains a move or close above $39.90 with volume that this near or above 3.56 million shares. If that move starts soon, then ITMN will set up to enter new 52-week-high territory, which is bullish technical price action. Some possible upside targets off that move are $45 to $50.

But a bigger reason to sell, in my opinion, right now, is a change in the risk/reward profile of the market as a whole. The recent sell off in momentum stockshich now looks like it's spreading to consumer discretionary leadersakes me want to raise cash for the inevitable bounce back in these stocks. I don't know when we might see that bouncend I'm not buying yet, since I think we're still in atch a falling knifeterritory. But when stocks such as FireEye (FEYE), or Palo Alto Networks (PANW), or Incyte (INCY), or Chipotle Mexican Grill (CMG) do bounce, the gains will be bigger and quicker than those in holding Citigroup.
